It seems Darren’s getting a lot of publicity despite not really having anything to pitch This interview, however, it’s really cool as he goes into a lot of things with SAW III; the MPAA makes another appearance, and he talks about how it was like working with Shawnee Smith, Tobin Bell, and Angus Macfayden, and more. Definitely worth the read, click here to check it out!
Horror Movies posted an article featuring an interview with SAW co-creator James Wan. He doesn’t really give anything away citing that SAW IV is in a very early stage (”we’re working on the script right now. That’s pretty much where things are at.”).
He also doesn’t verify nor deny that David Hackl has been selected as the director for Saw 4; in fact, he actually claims that they only have someone in mind, not that anyone’s been selected.
Update 1-30-07: I found another article that mentions the same interview, however, they seem to be implying that James Wan himself might direct Saw IV, and that he and Saw co-creator Leigh Whannell are writing the script. It was previously thought that Wan and Whannell were only executive producers.
Someone named “Andrew” claims to have read the script for Saw 4, and his exact words (as provided by If It’s Movies) are:
Hey Ryan, Andrew here again and SAW IV is where it’s at. I’ve actually just read the script to the upcoming sequel, set to film in March, and the details I’ve given you are indeed true. The little girl i talk of is Jeff’s daughter… and you will be completely shocked when you see what Jeff and his daughter have to endure in Part 4. Actor, song writer, and rapper Ja Rule has also been cast to star in the films opening scene on the first day of shooting in Toronto. More details as I recieve.
Two things that I find suspicious; 1) the script is supposed to be in early development… so there shouldn’t be anyone but the writers and producers looking at the script, none of whom would leak details. And 2) casting a (relatively) big name like Ja Rule would’ve surely been mentioned somewhere else, and so far I don’t see any other sources with this news.
Check out this short movie I found that parodizes the SAW movie franchise! Very funny, worth the 9 minute run time. It’ll do until the real Saw IV comes out
Examiner.com also interviewed SAW II & III director Darren Lynn Bousman at the Fangoria convention; he doesn’t talk about SAW IV, but it’s still an interesting read, as he goes into how he landed SAW II, his disdain for the MPAA ratings board, and how he’ll be a hands-on producer for SAW IV.
Click here to read the article. It also includes a review of the SAW III DVD.
In covering the recent Fangoria convention, Metroactive scored an interview with SAW II & III director Darren Lynn Bousman. He doesn’t spill anything on SAW IV, but it’s still an interesting read on the “renaissance” of the horror genre and how it draws influence from the 70s horror movies.
The Bousman portion of the article has Darren’s thoughts on how the SAW movies piece together like a puzzle and how he supports Rob Zombie and his remake of the original Halloween movie. To read the article, click here.
Today’s a big day as the latest chapter in the SAW franchise hits store shelves! So get out there and buy your copy of the SAW III DVD, or use these links to purchase online!
SAW IV director David Hackl has his own website! Since he was mostly a production designer and art director, the site focuses on his design work. Unfortunately, there’s no SAW II or III work featured, but it’s still a good site to go through
A company called Raybin Management is officially handling auctions for dozens of SAW props and knick-knacks, so I recommend all hardcore SAW fans check them out by clicking here! Among the items up for grabs are vials of “blood” from the movies (all three, not just SAW III), autographed DVDs, and costumes worn by the actors.
Some of the items are going for over $500, but there are a few that are going for reasonable prices like an autographed Shawnee Smith photo for $24.50.
I’m always curious as to who’s visiting the site, where they’re coming from, etc., because it somehow validates what I’m doing So when I found out today that this site is being linked to by none other than Thomas Fenton, one of the writers for Saw IV, I was floored! That’s one hell of a “hey, how are ya”
I recommend everyone check out his website, he’s got stuff from other movies he’s worked on, like Max Payne.
