Bousman out, Hackl in as director for Saw 4
posted January 17, 2007According to Moviehole.net, Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed Saw 2 and Saw 3, has bowed out of directing Saw 4 in order to helm the remake of David Cronenberg’s Scanners, the story of a scientist who sends out a man with special powers to hunt others like him.
Taking Bousman’s place will be David Hackl, who was the production designer and second unit director on Saw II and Saw III (and the upcoming Skinwalkers). This would be Hackl’s first foray into directing. Given his experience on the visual end of things (the production designer helps determine the “look” of a movie), I’m sure Saw IV will look as great as the first 3 movies… but will the story and acting measure up?
