Lionsgate shuffles around their horror line-up
posted February 8, 2007Lionsgate, the company behind Saw IV, has other major horror movies in the works, and they’ve just announced new release schedules for them. The first to be released will be Bug, starring Ashley Judd and directed by The Exorcist’s William Friedkin. Originally slated for a December ‘06 release, then pushed into relative obscurity, now Bug is scheduled for May 25th, right before the big summer movie kick off.
Lionsgate is also distributing The Eye, a remake of a Japanese horror movie of the same name. This one I’m quite interested in because it’s being produced by Tom Cruise; yes, he has gone crazy, but the one other horror movie he produced, The Others, I thought was great, so I’m hoping he can repeat the success with this one.
The Eye has had a major date push, originally supposed to be released in 2008 but now Lionsgate wants it to join Saw IV with an October release, in fact, just 2 weeks before Saw IV.
