  1. Jigsaw is dead and someone else is carrying on his work and it is not his ex-wife. Watch every single moment of the movie, you’re going to need it for the end.

  2. I’ve just got in from watching Saw IV and I thought it was absolutely brilliant, the best yet! I could have easily watched it again straight away. The traps were great and the twists brilliant. They certainly hav’nt spoiled it..and I wont for you! Go see it!! :D

  3. Got the priviledge to see them all in the Saw marathon. I forgot how freakin brilliant 2 was! WOW! This one ties it all together and brings you to even more questions, who is left, where will it go, etc, etc. Great great 8 hours in a theater! You must go see it! I can’t wait for the others!

  4. Ok I just got home from seeing this movie and I swear that I have more questions after this then what I had after any of the movies. It was amazing and the traps were brilliantly designed but knowing what happened to everyone in the end was just crazy to figure out.

  5. I’m sorry to say, Saw 4 ruined my love for the series. If theres anyone in this world who loves the Saw films, it has to be me. But this movie just killed it. They arent creative enough to make it original, so they just took Saw 3 and revvamped it with the plot revolving around Rigg. They filled some plot holes, but left most of them wide gaping open. The traps were amazing, and as were the signature sweeps and gore. I loved the film as a film, but as an installment in the Saw series, it destroyed the premise, and turned Jigsaw into a common killer rather than the genius savant he is. This movie almost brought me to tears, seeing as how i was expecting something amazing, and it just fell too short.

The twist sucks. It really does.
Two weeks before i watched it i knew who would be the new Jigsaw and what would happen in the end.
There wasnt really much of a twist.
It was just Saw 3 and a half.

  7. Quite honestly, im a little lost. I am almost 100% sure that i didn’t miss anything but i was VERY confused at the end! All of the stuff that happened didn’t add up at all, in my opinion. Can anyone please explain to me? I wont be able to sleep at all cause my mind wont stop going over the questions that i have!

  8. I don’t understand the end of this movie…I saw a midnight preview on Thursday, and then again on Friday…I just don’t get it. How was he on the table being cut open if he was still in the warehouse at the end? Maybe I’m just stupid but the 3 people I went with didn’t get it either. Anyone help?

  9. Ok i just saw it like a few hours ago. it was good, but The ending is confusing at first. it never really tells you how he did it…hm..well good over all. gotta love saw.

    Comment by Zac — October 26, 2007 @ 10:25 pm

  10. I was one of the first to see this, and saw a midnight showing of it. I had class the next day and didn’t get back til late, but it was well worth it! A very shocking ending that made me think “wtf did i just see?!?!?!”. Only one problem; lack of a true protagonist. I really liked the actor and character of Dr. Gordon in the first movie, and Leigh Wanell, but since then the Saw movies have yet to have that good of acting…maybe Dr. Gordon will make a return in Saw V!

    Comment by Jonny C — October 26, 2007 @ 11:22 pm

  11. After days, weeks, and months since the despise of John Cramer “Jigsaw” at the end of SAW 3 fans have been left wondering how could the franchise possible continue.

Well the answer is money talks, and with the confirmation of SAW 5 and SAW 6 it appears as though its talking loud and long to the right people. Usually those sorts of people don’t care about the quality of sequels but in this case the right people listened and the right people brought quality to a film which started out as a low budget semi-horror flick.

The writing in this film is top notch, even though in places the time-line of events doesn’t seem to match up 100%.

So how could Jigsaw survive even though he died in the last film? The bottom line he doesn’t and its all done in a series of flashbacks before and during SAW 3, which is how I suspect the other 2 will turn out. It was nice to see several other beloved characters return to the franchise namely Donnie Wahlberg as Eric Matthews, Lyriq Bents as Rigg and a brief glimpse of Shawnee Smith as Amanda.

The traps are as always a joy to watch unfold as people struggle to escape them, my personal favorite being the bed trap, but clever traps alone a story does not make. The back line plot of trying to figure out who the next apprentice was, with how Jigsaw became the person was, read like a classic who-dunnit mixed with an autobiography on the man.

You go into the cinema wanting to hate Jigsaw but I found myself going in and applauding the guy, questioning my own quality of life, which is what everyone should do every so often.

  17. I just saw the movie yesterday.
Absolutely amazing movie. But it totally confused me in the ending. Is number 3 and 4 running side on side at the same time? I had a lot of questions in my head, and couldn’t really sleep. There is something special about the Saw movies that is so great. It is prob. the only movie which can make me thing so hard of every step going on.
But people is right, number 4 leaves a wide open space with even more questions than the others.

    GO WATCH IT !!!

    Comment by Soren Pedersen — October 28, 2007 @ 8:19 am

  18. Saw 4 was amazing. Hopefully the questions on our minds at the end will be answered. I was wondering what was going to happen to the guy’s daughter. We ended Saw 3 with him about to “play a game” to save his daughter’s life. I wonder how the writers will work with that. Also, everyone talks about saw 1 and 3. What about Saw 2? I wanted to figure out more about how he chose those people. I would also like to see Eric Mathews son appear again (since he survived at the end and was basically cast aside). But anyway, Saw 4 is basically a continuation of Saw 3, the stories inertwine but you don’t realize this until the end. My friends and I had a hard time figuring out Jigsaw being on the autopsy table and then in the room at the end where he dies. I’m assuming the whole movie was a flashback and the fifth one will pick up there? Any thoughts?

    Comment by Stephanie — October 28, 2007 @ 12:19 pm

  19. it was very confusing, but great at the same time. The problem was that it went out of order, and the first scene with the autopsy actually happened last. Why the hell did they make the last scene chronologically the first in the movie and then not explain it? Anyway, i loved the movie, the cecil trap was really cool, and overall, maybe not as good as 2, but better then 1 and 3 in my opinion.

    Comment by frank — October 29, 2007 @ 7:27 am

  20. i dont understand the end of the movie either. my boyfriend says that it was a blooper for them to show jigsaw at the end in the warehouse with jeff and lynne and amanda on the floor. in fact he says that the whole scene is a gigantic blooper.

it didn’t make sense because if he is in the room, then how did they get the autopsy? And if they got the body out of the room for the autopsy, then why in the h*ll didn’t they get jeff out or leave the other dead bodies in the room?

the movie just left me waiting for the dvd of it to see if they took that scene out or for an explanation of the scene and also it made me want to see 5 so it can tie up those loose ends.

    Comment by mssmith — October 29, 2007 @ 7:58 am

  21. I think that the beginning happened after then end, if that makes any sense. My understanding is that the whole game w/ Rigg was happening at the same time as Saw 3. So everything that happened after the opening scene had already happened before the actually scene took place. It’s akways been hard to figure out time sequences in these moveis, so it makes sense they would do it like that.

As for the movie, it was pretty good. I like the twist, it was just more of a filler movie and still left some questions opened. What I didn’t get was what the letter to Amanda was supposed to be? Does anyone know?

    Comment by cryoak — October 29, 2007 @ 10:42 am

  22. I saw the movie and was totally confused and mad at the end. Confused because how does the detective taking over for jigsaw even know the real jigsaw? Where is Dr. Gordon…cuz I know he is still alive. How were they cutting open jigsaw when he was still in the room from #3? Where is the daughter from #3? And MAD because they brought back detective matthews…yay…and then killed him…BOOOOO!!! Although the few new traps that were introduced were very clever and cool to me it seems like new writers were hired for this movie and they couldn’t maintain the unique style from #1-3. In the first three movies at the end everything comes together to make sense but not this one…i am totally confused so if someone can explain it to me please do!!! i dont think they should have killed both jigsaw and amanda…at least one of them should have lived…but I am POSITIVE Dr. Gordon is still alive out there somewhere….
    I NEED ANSWERS!!! lol

  29. Finally got to see Saw IV!! Though it was a brilliant film but the plot just seemed weak!! I followed the whole fact that it was based on present and past, but what actually happened to Jeffs daughter, in saw 3 she was left in a room and throughout saw IV we never found any of that out! And as for Jeff, he had like what… 6 seconds in the film?? That was the only downside to it in my opinion!! Love the games though!! Bring on Saw V!! :D Wooo

    Comment by Chloe — October 31, 2007 @ 8:13 am

  30. the scene where he is in the room is a flashback - its trying to show you thats where he had his Dr Gordon do his surgery, he isnt really there, there are flashbacks throughout the whole end sequence….I am pissed off that the guy from 3 died and the cop from 2 got it too…brilliant film, it makes sense you need to watch all 3 and take it all in!

    Comment by dee — October 31, 2007 @ 1:35 pm

  31. This is what I get out of it, but I could be way off. The movie is a big flashback we have that. It does continue with saw 3 being either the same day or the next day. The time between saw 2 and saw 3 was a 6 month time period with Eric Mathews being kept alive. Now the tricky part is the ending of saw 4. If the new ‘apprentice’ did not know about that tape found in Jigsaw’s stomach, then it seems to me he is going to be the pawn in the next game, Saw 5. It says on the tape the games have just begun. My questions are how is he able to get away with it all. He locked up the FBI agent, left Riggs there to die and then it cuts to the beginning. It was a good movie, but the writing was way to similar to Saw 3 as everyone has been mentioning. Basically, I want to know the timeline between have Jigsaw’s body get to the coroner. Whoever recovered Jigsaw, would have recovered Eric Matthew’s body, the lawyer, possibly Riggs if he’s dead, plus the husband, wife and daughter from Saw 3. Does this make sense to ya’ll?

    Comment by adam — October 31, 2007 @ 6:17 pm

  32. ok to make this clear…`

3 and 4 are happening at the same time.

and the beginning is really the END of the movie.

they just throw it in there to confuse you, and because the saw movies are so incredible that there HAS to be some huge twist.

    Comment by emily — October 31, 2007 @ 6:43 pm

  33. okay i understand people saying the beginning was actually the end. but if it was the end… why would the guy who took over “jigsaw’s” job be playing the tape at the end?? wouldn’t he have to play it at the beginning to know he was the one??

    Comment by jennifer — October 31, 2007 @ 9:11 pm

  34. In my option it was so-so, im guessing there a scene missing from the “jigsaw sick room” and the autopsy room. the twist wasnt not very good i think it was because, i introduce many diffenent faces unlike the 3rd. that and the characters looked quite similar. They story line was simliar to that of saw 3, a man going from trap to trap.

    Comment by hamhamhunter@hotmail.com — October 31, 2007 @ 9:55 pm

  35. ok, so it’s easy to understand. The part where Jigsaw is getting cut open is actually the last moment timelne speaking, they show it at the end of the movie to make you believe that it’s shortly after Saw 3 (espacially since they say they found Kerry’s Body 4 days after she dissapeared) they only wanted you to think that the events were taking place after, so you the end was harder to guess.

    Comment by Timeline — November 1, 2007 @ 2:01 am

  36. Why did they get Eric Matthews back just to kill him?
He is the greatest character. They should’ve given him a bigger role.

  37. “Saw III happens at the same time as Saw IV. The autopsy at the beginning is actually the end”

Excalty what I was thinking… but I cant remeber, wasnt Riggs in the 3rd one? Or just the 2nd?

  38. I went to see Saw IV last night and I was impressed. This was the best plot since the original and a WTF ending. I thought the traps were the weakest of the series though.
I can’t wait till SAW V. I don’t get the tape in Jigsaws stomach. Why was it there if the detective is in on it? Is it a test? Is Jigsaws ex going to be a bigger role in the next won.
    GREAT MOVIE

    Comment by Tyler — November 1, 2007 @ 10:19 am

  39. Ok people…it’s not that hard really…Jigsaw did all this stuff before hand DUHHH the movie basically shows the end of the movie first, with a few parts left out…then at the end…it shows how it truly ended w/ Jigsaw. HE DID die in Saw 3, but it shows in the movie how he ate the tape, and then, obviously, during the second or third movie him and Amanda plotted these stunts. So basically the whole movie is a flashback that goes from present life to past and so on..the actual reality of NOW was the beginning w/ the detective..who in the end is the one to continue it all…confusing yes…but if you think about it it makes sense…because after he goes back to his office..the whole ‘tape listening’ thing is forgotten…why?? BECAUSE IT’S HIMMM DUHHHH!

    Comment by Lindsay — November 1, 2007 @ 11:38 am

  40. Okay, everyone, even those who are explaining the ending to the people who dont understand are not getting it. No one is confused as to the timeline, its common sence… what doesnt make any sence is, why if the detective is the accomplice does he act so frightened and disturbed by the tape, and why does the tape say what it says, it doesnt make any sence… because if hes knowingly just continueing Jigsaws work, why does the last/beginning scene act as if the detective was just in it for the one act??? And yeah, no one finding the other bodies after retrieving John is pretty odd… but it will mostlikely be explained..

    Comment by ARWorks — November 1, 2007 @ 5:26 pm

  41. I just dont understand why the detective is chosen in the first place. Was he in another SAW and I just dont remember him? Was he chosen to help or chosen to be tested? They just didnt seem to elaborate around him, or maybe I missed something.

  42. wow, great movie, untill the end. left very confused. but, after reading entries on this site, it all makes sense. the beginning is the end. i agree that the new jigsaw will be the one getting tested in saw v. also the wife has more to do in it all. After all that I cant wait for more!

  43. the new jigsaw was in on it with amanda and jigsaw the whole time. why do you think he was so upset when the fbi agent said there had to be a third person, or why he left a note in the room with jigsaw during the 3rd movie with amandas name on it. he has been involved for a while and thats why he didnt have to listen to the tape first to know what to do, or that he was going to continue the job

    Comment by Chloe — November 4, 2007 @ 9:37 am

  45. ok, after thinking thru it thoroughly, ive come to this conclusion. Saw 3+4 are running completely alongside one another, and johns autopsy is completely irrelevant at this point in the story. correct?

    Comment by Horripaule — November 5, 2007 @ 2:42 am

  46. I have only seen saw 4 once and have thought it over in my head for the last 8 days before finally looking to the internet to clear things up this is Saw 4 as I understand it……

Imagine you have walked in to the cinema 5 minutes after the film started and you missed the autopsy scene. Rigg & Hoffman etc find Kerry who has been missing for 4 days. placing them at round about the time the traps in Saw 3 started Rigg goes home and Saw 4’s traps begin. Evertything runs at the same time Saw 3 & Saw 4.
(with the exception of the obvious flashbacks e.g. the abusive parents, The knives trap etc)
When Rigg stumbles through the door and Matthews and Art Blanc are killed Hoffman gets up and leaves Rigg to die as this happens Strahm discovers Jeff just after Jigsaw, Amanda and Lynn are killed, Jeff stumbles arround with a gun and Strahm kills him (the tape said he would kill and innocent man) Hoffman shuts the door on them all.

NOW comes the autopsy scene. I would assume that the police (possibly lead by Hoffman as no one wittnessed any of his involvement and claims to have been the sole survivor) find the bodys of Rigg, Matthews, Blanc, Jeff, Jigsaw, Lynn, Amanda and Strahm either alive or dead. The tape in jigsaws stomach would seem to set up Hoffman as a Pawn in saw 5 or could simply be to throw the police/FBI off the scent of Hoffman being the sucessor to Jigsaw.

    Comment by JACK — November 5, 2007 @ 7:07 am

  47. Forensic Hoffman was one of the first detectives to arrive at the scene of an explosion in an abandoned classroom that was revealed to be the trap area for Troy, whose burnt and disfigured corpse had been found among the debris of the detonated bomb. He told Detective Kerry what he knew before she did her own analysis on the trap. He made a special note that the trap did not follow Jigsaw’s usual M.O., as Kerry had said, due to the fact that the door to the room was welded shut, making it nearly impossible for Troy to escape. While Lieutenant Rigg and Kerry were arguing, it appeared as though Hoffman pocketed some of the evidence.

  48. Guys, jigsaw isnt jigsaw if that makes sense, remember in 2 he says the papers gave me that name. The person everyone has assumed was jigsaw is a porn in this whole game, we could witness movie history with one amazing twist in 6, can’t wait. My guess is that crash, we all think he tried to kill himself, did he survive and become the first amanda. Why would a man who cares so much for life kill himself, could it be he was tested because he was in a slump, see where im going with this, bring on 5. There is a common theme in all the films, i just don’t what it is, bet its obviose though

  54. I just saw it a day ago, and after many minutes of comprehending, t hit me, obviously 3 and 4 occured at the same time, with the autopsy scene at the begning to throw you off at the end, just as they did with saw 2 with the whole events in the house being just a video tape. Another thing, all the bodies were found, because Hoffman would have said he escaped the trap and went back and retrieved the bodies. And i believ that Hpffman is not really evil, but knows that he is next on the list, and would prefer to aid Jogsaw in testin the others as opposed to himself dying, and a clue given that hints that Hoffman wants them to live is that after they find kerry, he says “never go through an unauthorized door” refering to the ending. And so now that leaves only characters left in the series… Jigsaw’s ex-wife, Hoffman, Perez ( girl detective) Corbett (Jeffs daughter) and Dr. Gordon, and his wife and daughter. A hint that very few caught was that in the beginning of 4 Perez asks hoffman if he had a daugter, because he was holding a teddy bear, and he says its a real short story… its the same doll the girl had throughout 3, so obviously upon Jeffs death, he rescued her. And obviously Gordons alive, first of all he hasnt been determined dead, and if he was the detectives would know, and he has never been shown in flashbacks, only his name twice… obviously they (directors) do not want to put imporance on him so they can bring him back as a big twist… i mean why have his fate unkwn for three movies…and just have him dead… so i believe he will come back in the sixth movie as the new jisaw killer. In every movie since number 1 i have thought he was coming bck, in two i thought he was the new apprenice… i three i though he was going to be in the building after the girl died, ad in four i though e was going to be the new apprence…but one thing i still do not understand is the fact that it was hoffman who left the letter to amanda…what did it say???

  57. IT’S WORTH READING ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!! IF YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND THE SAW 4 MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND IT. I’M SORRY I DON’T KNOW THE NAMES OF THE DETECTIVE, BUT I DID MY BEST TO EXPLAIN THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! READ, READ, READ,!!!!!!

I just finished watching the Saw 4 movie. Well I would say “Saw” movies are the best, I like them because they confuse me the whole time and I’m stuck trying to unravel, Saw’s mysterious games, the purpose for them, and yet I want to know who’s the next Saw. While watching Saw movies me and my smart brother fight the whole time through the movie. It’s pretty fun. Well lets get to the point here. Me and my brother alaways get to understand Saw movies when we finish watching them, but the Saw 4 movie was a tough one. I wouldn’t blame you for not having the mental capability to understand it. So lets get started.

First of all the Saw 4 movie starts with its ending!

Second of all the Saw 4 movie is composed of getting someone in his game. One of his mysterious puzzles that confuse us and the person the game was made for. In this movie the game was for the African American detective who can’t stand seeing people die and always wants to keep them alive.

It is also composed of the answer to a question we must all have, “Why did Saw become a Phsyco Path(murder)?” Well the movie shows us that Saw got his ex wife pregnant. Then a man who wanted to steal from the hospital hits Saws ex wife
(a doctor)who was closing the hospital. That makes her loose her baby. So saw its angry and decides to break up with his wife. She brings in a lawyer to Saw’s future torture place to get a divorse. Saw asks the lawyer to leave, but the lawyer still accomplishes his work. we never hear from him in the whole movie, but really the layer has been stuck in there since then and saw ties him into a chain with another guy.
(The two men we see fighting in the begining of the movie.) the lawyer gets to save himself because he got to stop the machine when he killed the other guy and his body gets trapped in the mashine. He finds the key and escapes. He finds the place were all the cameras are being monitored and realizes that the two detectives
( the one in the chair and the one hanging on top of the ice) could all get saved when the timer stops and the layer presses the button to release them. besides this Saw also is detected Cancer and on his way home after visiting the hospital he crashes and a pole gets in his body, the one he is able to pull out as we saw in the 2nd Saw movie. So that is why Saw becomes a phsyco path killer. He strts by avenging with the man who made his ex wife loose the baby by making him a game where he has to push his face into knives and press a lever in front of him with his bleeding face for the chair where he is on can be destroyed and he can escape. the guy escapes but wants to kill saw so saw traps him in a cage with barbed wire and he dies of internal bleeding. then Saw prepares the game for the layer who also divorsed him and his wife by tiying the chain on his neck and on the other victim, the game we were talking about before. In other words thats how Saw starts his games, with all the people who caused his life misery!!!!!!!!!!!!

but this movie is also composed of the African American detective who is being tested. He always trys to convince every person in life to make the right choice by stopping them from making the wrong choices, but he doesn’t realize that is what’s stopping him from making the right choices to save himself, for example his wife tells him to leave with her, but he rathers continue his work, the detectives tell him to don’t go in Saw’s building, but he doesn’t listen. So here is where Saw prepares him a game.

but wait a minute at the beginning of the movie the two detectives who are talking see the dead detective’s body on the ripcage hanging. They figure out she weights a couple of pounds and they ask to themselves, “Saw was too weak to carry her body in this trap and his helper Amanda was to weak also so they now predict there is another person helping Saw, which there is. That is a detective that has been covering himself the whole time with his title(detective) he hasn’t been unmasked not even in the end of the movie. You can see him walk away, then he locks at the African American detective and just shuts off the lights. He also locks the other detective inside Saws room,
(the detective which argued with him at the beginning of the movie.)So there is going to be a Saw 5 movie!!!!!!!!!! you may be wondering how he was able to sit on the chair and act like a victim. He was just trying to hide himself. He knew he wasn’t going to die, cuz well he’s Saws helper so at the end he is able to get up the chair and continue Saws work. That’s why at the beginning of the movie you can see him hearing Saws tape which is saying that Saws work is going to continue and, well he is going to continue it, since he is a helper and damn is hard to discover him since he’s a detective. I think that in the Saw 5 movie saw left a game prepared for him because in the tape he also says he isn’t going to only walk away without playing his game!

    Well now that you know…

who was Saw’s real strong helper besides Amanda

why Saw became a Phsyco path killer

How and with who he started his games and unleashed his anger with

And how and why he was testing the African American detective…

I can tell you how the African American could have gotten saved.

First of all he gets into Saw’s game thanks to the detective helper we were talking about who gets him and throws him in the tub filled with water. That’s how the game starts. He walks in the room and sees a lady who has stolen a lot of things, (a rober). She is sitting on a chair her is being pulled by a device which will break her head in and she will die! The African American detective then finds a tape that tells him that he doesn’t have to save all the people he will face in the tests, but since he is hard headed and he wants to save everyone, that takes time away from him. So he saves her and then she trys to kill him since she doesn’t want to go to jail but the detective has no choice than to kill her. The detective also trys to save a rapist who is paying his price by being involved in a game where he has to die seeing what an animal he was, how he killed woman and raped them. The detective trys to save him but he can’t and that takes him more time away from saving himself. At the end he doesn’t save him either. Finally he finds the three men who are waiting for the timer to stop to get saved, but since he thinks the layer who is pointing a gun at him is the one responsible for preparing the traps to the two detectives
(the one on the chair and the one hanging on top of ice) he fights him, but the African American detective never realizes that the game was for him until he shoots the lawyer who could have saved everyone. He hears the tape and it says that if he would have only let people saved themselves he would have made the right choices, but since he always tried being the hero by saving people he never let them make their own choices and he never saved himself, because you see, the men could have escaped but since he shot the lawyer thinking he was gonna save the two other detectives he wasn’t able to save himself nor the detectives. If only he would have let the 3 men save themselves not supposing the lawyer was a bad guy they would have all survived. That’s why in the first tape he says, “they can save themselves” he didn’t mean the people trapped, he ment the two detectives and the lawyer! they could have saved themselves by pressing the button!!!!!!!!! so they all die exept Saws helper. Do you get it now?????? It can’t be more clearer than that!!!!!!!!!

    HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!!!!!!!

  58. it is extremely brillint but a little confusing. the movie deserve 9/10 ,it is clear after the end but it leaves us waiting for saw 5 to see the destiny of Rigg and the new Jigsaw and the ex-wife.More interseing better than 1,3 but 2 is the best in my opinion
