Saw III and IV part of a discussion on movie censorship
posted April 30, 2007During the Tribeca Film Festival (now one of the biggest and most influential film festivals after only 6 years) there was a panel discussion about the connection between movie violence and debates about violence in the media. The panel featured Peter Block from Lionsgate (the Saw franchise’s distributor) and horror legend John Carpenter.
A lot of interesting points are brought up about the effects of violent media, the MPAA, etc. The discussion contained a few references Peter Block made regarding SAW III getting reviewed by the MPAA (apparently the only difference between an NC-17 and R rating is a “gurgle”
).
