With filming to begin a mere 12 days from today (!!!), I’m sure there’ll be an increase in news, rumors, and most definitely something we can finally look at!! For now, we’ll have to make do with some of these online findings…
Tobin Bell will definitely make an appearance in Saw IV; however it’s still unclear in what form. It was initially reported (and still is) that he’ll appear in flashback scenes, although now producer Oren Koules has stated that they’ve already show some scenes for Saw IV when they did Saw III. So now it remains to be scene is Tobin will film anything new for Saw IV in addition to what’s already been shot.
And according to a poll on Slice of Sci-Fi, Saw IV is the movie voters are the LEAST interested in! Bah, it’s a sci-fi site… what do they know about horror!!!
It seems that Saw IV Fansite visitor Thomas Fenton may no longer be involved in Saw IV : ( … according to Bloody-Disgusting, the script written by Feast writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton has been chosen as the shooting script. However the same article claims that Lionsgate is already talking Saw VI!!! It’s entirely possible that Fenton’s work could be used for one of the two following movies!
Update! another source has contacted me directly hinting at the possibility that Bloody Disgusting might be off about Thomas Fenton. They don’t say it in so many words, saying only, “Don’t believe everything you read… [Blood Disgusting] has been wrong in the past…”
Well, that’s all I’ve got for now… check back later for more!!

Saw II through IV director Darren Lynn Bousman already has 2 more projects lined up after Saw IV. One of them is his pet project, Repo, which he was supposed to be working on next but production got delayed, which is why he reneged on his previous vow to not direct Saw IV. After Repo, Bousman is set to direct the remake of David Cronenberg’s Scanners, with a script by Blade writer David Goyer.
Further Darren developments! Cinematical is reporting that a rumor is going around making Darren Lynn Bousman the director of a Children of the Corn remake (not a sequel but an actual remake of the 1984 original). IESB also reported this but later updated with a new source that claims the rumor is false. I think it’s important to note that neither sites declare who or what their sources are.

AskMen.com, an e-zine type site dedicated to the general male population, has voted Saw babe Shawnee Smith as their Actress of the Week! She should definitely get noticed more, it’s not everyone who can play a psychopathic babe! Head over to the AskMen.com - Shawnee Smith page to read more about her and what the fans think

It’s been a long time since I’ve last updated this site; lots of stuff going on offline! So let’s catch up on everything, shall we?
Tobin Bell has received Fangoria’s Best Butcher of the Year award! Click here to view Tobin receive his award (click “And the winner is…” then scroll down to near the bottom).
Fangoria also landed an exclusive scoop from Saw co-creator Leigh Whannell: he confirms that Darren Lynn Bousman is back in the director’s seat for Saw IV! Bloody Disgusting would later get more confirmation directly from Darren himself. You can read what he said here.
Bloody Disgusting brings news from the frontline: Filming is scheduled to begin on April 16th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMDB has posted a rather odd plot for Saw 4. It makes it sound like Jigsaw is making Jeff go on another puzzle-solving mission, despite the outcome of Saw III. The summary was written by someone with an equally odd name: Wiena Time. Could it be a pen name for someone at Lionsgate? Could “Time” be a clue?
CHUD has a potentially great spoiler for hardcore Saw fans. Scroll down to where it says “spoiler” and highlight the text to read
And last but certainly not least, check out this entry from the Official Shawnee Smith Blog website which has Shawnee’s experience at Monstermania.

Well, he followed through on his promise; “Andrew”, the “insider” If It’s Movies has been in communication with, came in today with his interview of Fanshon Cox, whom he claims will be starring in Saw 4. He goes into a lot more plot details than usual and even suggests that perhaps Tara Reid might be in the movie as well. “Andrew” also says that Jeff’s daughter (from Saw III) will be in it.
You can read the entire article here.
However, as usual, something threw me off; at the end of his report, “Andrew” encourages everyone to visit Thomas Fenton’s website to view Saw IV fan posters… which is exactly what I did yesterday. Further evidence that this guy’s just making stuff up, taking things he finds online? Or maybe I’m “Andrew”? No, I’m definitely not “Andrew”

It surprises me to know that there are so many people that think this is a real, official Saw 4 teaser poster. Well, it is not. A friend of mine who indirectly does freelance for Lionsgate has told me that Lionsgate still hasn’t released anything in the form of an image for this movie.
So what you’re really looking at is fan art
You can find this image and a few more on Saw 4 writer Thomas Fenton’s website by clicking here (he has a page just for fan posters).

Tobin Bell has been working on a movie called Buried Alive which is almost done filming. Today ComingSoon.net reports that it has been bought up by Dimension Films for distribution. No word on when Dimension plans on releasing the movie. Buried Alive, directed by Robert Kurtzman (co-founder of horror fave visual effects shop KNB), focuses on a sorority hazing ritual gone wrong by a vengeful ghost.
I had previously learned about Darren Lynn Bousman’s attempt to bring a play he directed, Repo! The Genetic Opera, to the big screen. ComingSoon is also reporting that it has been greenlit by Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures with a budget of $25 million. Repo! is about a future where human organs begin to fail and a company sells organs to the people like they would a car; if you default on the payment, the organ shuts down!

Lionsgate, the company behind Saw IV, has other major horror movies in the works, and they’ve just announced new release schedules for them. The first to be released will be Bug, starring Ashley Judd and directed by The Exorcist’s William Friedkin. Originally slated for a December ‘06 release, then pushed into relative obscurity, now Bug is scheduled for May 25th, right before the big summer movie kick off.
Lionsgate is also distributing The Eye, a remake of a Japanese horror movie of the same name. This one I’m quite interested in because it’s being produced by Tom Cruise; yes, he has gone crazy, but the one other horror movie he produced, The Others, I thought was great, so I’m hoping he can repeat the success with this one.
The Eye has had a major date push, originally supposed to be released in 2008 but now Lionsgate wants it to join Saw IV with an October release, in fact, just 2 weeks before Saw IV.

He didn’t have any Saw IV news to report but “Andrew” did have Tobin Bell news. He claims that Saw’s twisted mastermind Tobin Bell has been cast in the upcoming sequel Boogeyman 2.
“Andrew” does not divulge in what kind of role Tobin has been cast, but he speculates that if Tobin were to appear in Saw IV, the two movies might cause scheduling conflicts.
Which leads me to ask, how did he get THAT info? If he’s telling the truth about Saw IV (yes, I still have doubts), one could assume he’d be working for Lionsgate. But then how would he know about Boogeyman 2, which is housed at another company? “Andrew” doesn’t go into how he found out other than he “heard” it.
Update: Okay, so I jumped the gun a bit; I was so ready to not believe whatever “Andrew” wrote that I brushed it off as made-up
So there are other sources reporting Tobin Bell in Boogeyman 2. So it seems like it was more commentary on “Andrew” behalf than an “inside tip”. Thanks to If It’s Movies‘ Ryan for keeping my head straight.

Aside from the mention that he’s working on a script for SAW IV with partner Marcus Dunstan (both of them co-wrote Feast), there’s not anything in the interview about Saw 4. But for horror movie fans, the interview is still a good read to see what all Patrick has going on, including a remake, a television series, and not one but two Feast sequels. Click here to read the interview at Fangoria.
