Another returning cast member for Saw 4!

posted May 11, 2007

According to Bloody Disgusting, Costas Mandylor will be returning to the Saw franchise to reprise the role of Forensic Hoffman (relatively minor role in Saw II and III).

One interesting thing I noticed is that while Bloody Disgusting doesn’t mention her, Movieweb, in referencing the BD article, claims that Shawnee Smith has been cast in Saw 4. makes no mention of her and I haven’t seen any official word from Lionsgate either.

Donnie Wahlberg in Saw 4?!

posted April 27, 2007

I got a tip from fellow SAW fan Tom that he saw a report in the Toronto Sun that actor Donnie Wahlberg was in Toronto for the filming of Saw IV! Unfortunately I couldn’t verify this, I couldn’t find it on their website, and it hasn’t been found by Google yet. So if anyone happens to have that print of today’s Toronto Sun handy, send me a scan!

The closest thing I could find was this page mentioning that Wahlberg was in Toronto a couple days ago for a club party. There’s a thumbnail that looks like it could be Donnie Walhberg, but unfortunately the site forces you to be a member to view full-size pics.

New (and confirmed!) SAW IV casting news

posted April 12, 2007

/film reports that Justin Louis (of Dawn of the Dead and the currently in theatres Shooter) has been added to the Saw IV cast while Lyriq Bent returns for a third outing (he played Rigg before and is in the upcoming Skinwalkers). This has been confirmed by director Darren Lynn Bousman.

It seems that Darren’s got a blog going on over at Fearnet. Why it would be there I don’t know, I’m not even 100% sure what that site is about other than some kind of comminuty for horror fans. You’d figure Darren’s blog would be hosted on a Lionsgate site like they have so many other films (House of D, House of 1000 Corpses, etc. … and the fact that those two start with “House” is entirely coincidence, they’re just the only ones I remember :D ).

A Gilmore Girls connection?

posted April 8, 2007

Perhaps in a way to break out of what I consider one of the sappiest, most estrogen-filled and unintelligible TV shows currently running (and why it still is I dunno…), it seems that actor Scott Patterson has been cast as a victim in Saw IV, according to Bloody Disgusting.

I’d also like to point out that no other sources have so much as mentioned anything about Ja Rule being in Saw IV as the anonymous tipster from If It’s Movies had reported. This combined with the fact that his other tip, that production designer David Hackl was definitely the director, which has since been debunked officially, lead me to believe that “Andrew” was FULL OF CRAP!

Let’s play catch-up with Saw IV! (updated)

posted April 6, 2007

With filming to begin a mere 12 days from today (!!!), I’m sure there’ll be an increase in news, rumors, and most definitely something we can finally look at!! For now, we’ll have to make do with some of these online findings…

  • Tobin Bell will definitely make an appearance in Saw IV; however it’s still unclear in what form. It was initially reported (and still is) that he’ll appear in flashback scenes, although now producer Oren Koules has stated that they’ve already show some scenes for Saw IV when they did Saw III. So now it remains to be scene is Tobin will film anything new for Saw IV in addition to what’s already been shot.
  • And according to a poll on Slice of Sci-Fi, Saw IV is the movie voters are the LEAST interested in! Bah, it’s a sci-fi site… what do they know about horror!!!
  • It seems that Saw IV Fansite visitor may no longer be involved in Saw IV : ( … according to Bloody-Disgusting, the script written by Feast writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton has been chosen as the shooting script. However the same article claims that Lionsgate is already talking Saw VI!!! It’s entirely possible that Fenton’s work could be used for one of the two following movies!
  • Update! another source has contacted me directly hinting at the possibility that Bloody Disgusting might be off about Thomas Fenton. They don’t say it in so many words, saying only, “Don’t believe everything you read… [Blood Disgusting] has been wrong in the past…”
  • Well, that’s all I’ve got for now… check back later for more!!

Catching up on SAW IV news!

    posted February 23, 2007

It’s been a long time since I’ve last updated this site; lots of stuff going on offline! So let’s catch up on everything, shall we?

  • Tobin Bell has received Fangoria’s Best Butcher of the Year award! Click here to view Tobin receive his award (click “And the winner is…” then scroll down to near the bottom).
  • Fangoria also landed an exclusive scoop from Saw co-creator Leigh Whannell: he confirms that Darren Lynn Bousman is back in the director’s seat for Saw IV! Bloody Disgusting would later get more confirmation directly from Darren himself. You can read what he said here.
  • Bloody Disgusting brings news from the frontline: Filming is scheduled to begin on April 16th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • IMDB has posted a rather odd plot for Saw 4. It makes it sound like Jigsaw is making Jeff go on another puzzle-solving mission, despite the outcome of Saw III. The summary was written by someone with an equally odd name: Wiena Time. Could it be a pen name for someone at Lionsgate? Could “Time” be a clue?
  • CHUD has a potentially great spoiler for hardcore Saw fans. Scroll down to where it says “spoiler” and highlight the text to read :)
  • And last but certainly not least, check out this entry from the Official Shawnee Smith Blog website which has Shawnee’s experience at Monstermania.

Projects picked up for Tobin Bell and Darren Lynn Bousman

    posted February 9, 2007

Tobin Bell has been working on a movie called Buried Alive which is almost done filming. Today ComingSoon.net reports that it has been bought up by Dimension Films for distribution. No word on when Dimension plans on releasing the movie. Buried Alive, directed by Robert Kurtzman (co-founder of horror fave visual effects shop KNB), focuses on a sorority hazing ritual gone wrong by a vengeful ghost.

I had previously learned about Darren Lynn Bousman’s attempt to bring a play he directed, Repo! The Genetic Opera, to the big screen. ComingSoon is also reporting that it has been greenlit by Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures with a budget of $25 million. Repo! is about a future where human organs begin to fail and a company sells organs to the people like they would a car; if you default on the payment, the organ shuts down!
